According to the construction and shape of CNC shafts, common types of shafts can be classified as crankshafts, straight shafts, flexible shafts, solid shafts, hollow shafts, stiff shafts, and so on. Straight shafts can be further categorized into the following types:
Rotating Shafts: These shafts carry both a bending moment and torque during use. They are the most prevalent in equipment and include shafts in various reducers.
Mandrels: Mandrels support rotating components and primarily carry the bending moment; they do not transmit torque. Some mandrels, like those used in railroad cars, rotate, while others, like those holding pulleys, do not.
Transmission Shafts: These shafts are mainly used to transmit torque without bearing bending moments. Examples include the long optical axis in a crane's movable mechanism or the drive shaft in a car. Precision machining shafts are mostly made of carbon steel or steel alloys, but ductile iron or cast iron alloys may also be employed. The shaft's strength, rigidity, and vibration stability are crucial factors affecting its performance at high speeds.
We can produce all types of CNC machined shafts, please contact us for more information.
